Athanatos Christian Ministries is pleased to announce the winners of the 2013 Children’s Book Contest:
Simonetta Carr, for her submission, Anselm of Canterbury
Simonetta Carr was born in Italy and has lived and worked in different cultures. A former elementary school teacher, she has home-schooled her eight children for many years. She has written for newspapers and magazines around the world and has translated the works of several Christian authors into Italian. Presently, she lives in San Diego with her husband Thomas and family. She is a member and Sunday School teacher at Christ United Reformed Church. Visit Simonetta’s Linked In page, the CBFYR website, or the CBFYR Facebook page.
Gail Howitt and illustrator Suzanne Wright, for the book Grandpa in the Grass
Inspired by her High School literature teacher who introduced her to Flannery O’Connor, Gail Howitt began a life-long love affair with the Short Story genre. She was raised in Hanover Park, Illinois and received a B.A. from Illinois State University. Married to her husband Doug for 26 years, they and their four adult children live in Glendale Arizona. An educator with 25 years experience, she currently teaches Western Civilization at Trinity Classical Academy. She loves her church, King of Kings PCA, where her husband serves as an elder and where they are involved in various ministries together.
Her passion for fiction and the unique way it communicates truth fuels her reading, writing and teaching endeavors.
Judith DuCharme for her story, LeGory’s Glory or I Want a Water Buffalo for Christmas
